How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?
Six to eight weeks. That's the rule of thumb, and it's what I hope every client gets.
But I don't go by the calendar. I go by your lashes.
Why it isn't the same for everyone
A lash lift works on the lashes you have the day you come in. And your lashes are always on a cycle. They grow, they rest, they shed, and new ones come in behind them.
The new ones grow in straight. They weren't there for the lift.
So a lift doesn't wear off all at once. It fades a little at a time, as lifted lashes shed and new ones take their place. If your lashes cycle quickly, you'll notice it sooner. If they cycle slowly, you may get the full eight weeks.
How to tell when it's time
You'll see it in the mirror. Your lashes start dropping back to the way they looked before the lift. Less curl, less of that open look.
That's your sign. When they're back to their natural state, it's time for the next one.
For some of my Kerrville clients that's right at six weeks. For others it's closer to eight. It varies, and that's normal.
What helps it last
Keep them dry for the first 24 hours
Cleanse daily with a lash cleanser
Don't pick or rub
Mascara is fine, just not a lot of it
That's about it. A lift is made for the woman who doesn't want to think about her lashes every morning.
What I look at before your next one
Every time you come back, I look at your natural lashes first. How much lift is left. What's grown in. What condition they're in right now.
Then I tell you what I see. That's how we know your timing, not a number on a chart.
If you're still deciding between a lift and extensions, I wrote about how they compare here: Lash Lift vs Extensions.
The bottom line
Plan on six to eight weeks. Then let your lashes tell you.
