What's the Difference Between a 2-Week and a 3-Week Fill?

The short answer is time, and what that time does to your lashes.

Two weeks is the sweet spot. Three weeks is the outside edge. Past three weeks, it isn't a fill anymore. It's a full set.

What happens between appointments

Every extension is attached to one of your own lashes. And your own lashes are always on a cycle. They grow, they rest, they shed, and new ones come in behind them.

So a few things are happening at once. The extension grows out with your natural lash. Some extensions come out with a natural lash when it sheds. Some don't. It depends on where that lash is in its cycle. And the new lashes coming in behind them are bare.

A fill takes care of all of it. I clean up what's grown out, replace what's come off, and put extensions on the new lashes.

The 2-week fill

At two weeks there's enough regrowth to fill, but not so much that we're rebuilding. Your set still looks like your set. I'm refreshing it, not starting over.

Plan on about an hour and fifteen minutes for classic or wet set, and about an hour and a half for volume or mega.

The 3-week fill

At three weeks there's more to cover. More lashes have shed, more new ones have come in bare, and the ones still wearing extensions have grown out further. The set starts to look a little thinner near the end of week three.

That's why it takes the full hour and a half, and why it's priced as its own service. It's more work.

Why three weeks is the line

Past three weeks, there isn't enough of your set left to fill. I'd be rebuilding it, and that's a full set.

I count the days. If you're not sure where you land, message me before you book. That way there are no surprises in the chair.

Which one should you book?

If you want your lashes looking full all the time, book every two weeks.

If you're okay with them looking a little lighter toward the end and you'd like more time between visits, three weeks works.

Either way, pre-booking your next fill before you leave is the easiest way to stay on track. You can see all my lash services and how they work on the Services page.

A note about your pillowcase

If you wake up and see lashes on your pillow, don't panic. That's usually from sleeping on your side or your face, not from shedding. How you sleep makes a real difference in how your set holds up between fills.

And if you're worried what extensions are doing to your natural lashes, I wrote about that here: Do Lash Extensions Ruin Your Natural Lashes?

If it's only been a few days

That's a mini fill, not a fill. It's for when you lost a few early, one is poking you, or something came up and you want them tidy. If it's been two or three weeks, book the fill. You'll get a lot more out of it.

The bottom line

Two weeks keeps your set full. Three weeks is as far as a fill can go. After that, we start fresh.
